At last, an ensemble from the UK underground that is challenging, fresh & invigorating; emerging from the granite wastes of London, England comes the towering behemoth known as Capricorns. The recent history begins in early Spring 2003, when Nathan Bennett & Kevin Williams (current members of renowned soundscape rock outfit BRIDGE AND TUNNEL) realized they were both desperately seeking a proper conduit for their surfeit metal influences. After a few brief writings sessions they felt they had enough basic material to warrant enlisting their long time friends Dean Berry (formerly of IRON MONKEY) on bass and Chris Turner (from ORANGE GOBLIN) on drums. With the line-up set the quartet immediately set to work on pummeling their audience at gigs around the country, sharing the stage with an impressive variety of acts such as Oxbow, Lungfish, Isis, Keelhaul & Pelican to name a few. Wanting to take it to another level, it wasn’t long before talks with UK doom advocates Rise Above Records led to a handshake deal for the release of Capricorns eponymous debut. Capricorns are unique in the UK scene, exploring new styles and sounds recently made popular by US labels such as Hydra Head.
